I am reaching out today for prayers and financial help for Myles and his family, Myles is 13 years old, in the 7th grade and has just recently been diagnosed with brain cancer.

Myles family consists of his Mother, Father and two younger sisters.

Myles was feeling poorly and missing school in November and December. Late in December Myles was diagnosed with a brain tumor "Medulloblastoma" and spent Christmas undergoing emergency surgery and biopsy.

Since the diagnosis and subsequent surgery Myles has not returned to school and his Parents have barely been able to work half time.

As of last night 1/22/2019 Myles is currently at Children's Hospital in Seattle.

Children's Hospital is 100 miles from the Butlers  home in South West Washington and they are living in a hotel while Myles is undergoing Proton Therapy daily for the next 6 weeks, This is a type of radiation treatment.

Once Myles completes his 6 weeks of Proton Therapy in Seattle he will travel back to the Mary Bridge Hospital for Chemotherapy weekly for the next 9 months.

If all of this isn't bad enough in itself the Butlers relocated to South West Washington a little over a year ago from Central Alaska and were in the process of closing on their construction loan when Myles was diagnosed with the tumor. The family plans to build a new home on land they recently purchased here in Washington. This all adds to the emotional and financial stresses for this resilient family.

All of these things combined are a perfect storm for financial disaster for anyone. 

Myles parents are good people and are an asset to our community. Dawayne and his wife have worked very hard for their family and were really starting to get back on their feet after relocating to Washington, Dawayne is a carpenter and his wife works for one of our local businesses.

They are good, loving, proud parents and would never ask for help from anyone and that is why I am trying to help them through this in any way I am able.

The family has some savings and insurance but as we all know it will only cover a portion of the medical expenses and probably doesn't cover loss of wages or any of the travel expenses either.

I do not want to see this young family fail and end up financially ruined while they fight for their sons health and recovery.

With everyone's financial help and prayers the Butlers will be using any donations to offset the medical bills that will not be covered by insurance and the extraordinary expenses for lodging, meals, and possibly childcare for the two younger children while they are walking through this trying time with their son Myles.
