Stand With Our Brother in His Fight Against Stage 3 Oesophageal Cancer
It’s hard to put into words how quickly life can change.
One minute you’re working offshore, planning the next shift, talking about the next job — and the next you’re sitting in a hospital being told you have Stage 3 oesophageal cancer.
Our friend, our colleague, our brother, is now facing the biggest battle of his life.
The road ahead is long and brutal.
Doctors have put together an aggressive treatment plan designed with one goal — to cure this.
It starts with chemotherapy to shrink the tumour.
Then comes an 8-hour oesophagectomy — major surgery to remove part of his food pipe and reconstruct it using his stomach.
After that, more chemotherapy to eliminate any remaining cancer cells.
Eight hours on an operating table.
Months of treatment.
Months away from normal life.
Months of physical and emotional strain.
It’s terrifying. It’s overwhelming.
But there is hope.
The fact that surgeons are planning this operation means they believe it is operable. They believe there is a fighting chance. They are going in with intent to remove it and give him that chance at a future.
While he focuses on surviving this — the last thing he should be worrying about is finances.
There will be time off work. Travel to specialist centres. Accommodation. Recovery costs. Support for his family. The hidden expenses that nobody sees until they arrive.
That’s why we are asking for help.
We’re calling on close friends, family, and the offshore community — the same community that works in harsh weather, long shifts, and tight teams. The same community that looks after its own.
If you can donate, no matter how small, it will help ease the pressure and allow him to focus fully on recovery.
If you can’t donate, please share this page.
Let’s stand behind him the way he has stood alongside so many of us.
He is not fighting this alone.
And together, we can help give him the best possible chance at beating it.
