Hi everyone, My name is Jenna Biesiada and I am Sophies Aunt. I am raising this money directly for Sophie and her mother Katie who is her primary caregiver. 

If there is confusion for anyone seeing 2 go fund me's for Sophie know that her parents are separated and therefore have separate bills. I verified that the other account does not benefit Katie whatsoever so ultimately she needs her own gofundme. Katie, who is a single mother is also the one who provides the insurance for Sophie.

   

   Starting around Easter, Sophie was having pain in her knee which the doctors dismissed as "growing pains". After the pain continued for well over a few weeks she was finally given an X-ray and MRI which unfortunately revealed a very large tumor on Sophie's femur. 

  Next, Sophie needed a biopsy to determine exactly which type of Cancer she had. It was determined to be an aggressive case of Osteosarcoma. From there she has had numerous tests including bloodwork, pet scans, and more imaging, and just recently had her port placed and chemo started within the same week. The Petscan also revealed cancer had possibly spread to her lungs as it revealed a few small nodules that they are hopeful the chemo should shrink. 

   The beginning of her osteosarcoma battle began in Indianapolis. The drive alone for Katie and Sophie with an unreliable car was hard enough. After the diagnosis, the team in Indianapolis had transferred her care to their friends and colleagues at Lurie Children's in Chicago. They love the staff and Doctors there but with Katie and Sophie currently residing in Indiana the drive is still very far.

   This money will go to help Katie and Sophie with transportation, as well as the money Katie is losing by missing work to make sure she is at every appointment or overnight stay for Sophie. As any mother would. During her treatment weeks, she has to stay multiple days at Lurie childrens to be monitored during the chemo treatment before she is sent home. Which as you can imagine is difficult for both of her working parents to try and do. Katie has to continue working to be able to continue to provide the insurance coverage for Sophie that she gets through her work. Not to mention the cost of gas, food, and medical bills, some of which Katie is still paying off from when Sophie had a recent Ovary surgery that Katie paid entirely on her own. And these new medical bills are just beginning. There is always the horrible possibility of amputation being in Sophie's future. The surgery cost, and recovery, both physically and mentally would be extremely taxing. 

  Sophie's fight with Osteosarcoma is going to be a very long and hard road. We are very hopeful that with this amazing treatment she is receiving from Lurie Childrens that Sophie June will come out on top stronger than ever. But as you can imagine the thought of your child being diagnosed with cancer is an impossible thought to have. 

Sophie June is only 9 years old. The last thing on her mind should be how she is going to get through chemo today.

 Therefore I am asking anyone and everyone to please share and donate to this account as you would like someone to do for your child in their time of need. Any amount of money helps. It will be used for current and future expenses that will be occurred during the long course of Sophie's treatments.
