One year ago, our mom, Kim was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. After chemotherapy and surgery, our mom was looking forward to returning to a life without cancer. Sadly, two weeks ago, her doctors discovered that her cancer had metastasized, becoming stage 4. The cancer is now in her lungs and bones. Three days ago, our mom suffered a fall while at home that fractured her femur and left her facing a complex, emergency surgery to repair the damage. Following that surgery, which was a success, the doctors discovered another serious complication. She has developed blood clots in her lungs, necessitating a much longer stay in the hospital and additional procedures to address the clots.
This situation will only act to delay her cancer treatment. In addition to this medical stress, our parents face financial strain. Our father also had his own battle with cancer two years prior, when he developed and beat acute leukemia. This sequence of events has only increased the financial burden they now face during our mom’s long journey of healing. In an effort to ease this burden and allow them to focus their energy on recovery, we ask that you donate what you can.
Thank you for taking the time to read our family’s story and for your consideration.
