New Hearing Aids for Shannon

Donation protected
Hey everyone. My name is Shannon Remington. For those that don't know me, or don't know me well, I have worn hearing aids since the 3rd grade. I was about 8/9 years old when I got my first pair. My parents had simply gotten tired of my response being "what'd you say?" every single time they said something to me, so they had me tested, and sure enough. Hearing aids. I still remember hearing my mom's car engine turn over for the first time, and being scared of the noise it made. I had NEVER heard it before then!

Being a mom of 2 young kids (baby girl- 2, my son will be 6 this month), I need to be able to hear them. Baby Girl is at that stage where she's starting to talk more and more, and wants to play independently in her room. I won't feel comfortable letting her play alone in the other room if I can't hear her.  Or if my son is talking to me, I can't always understand what he is asking if I don't have my hearing aids in. Even my husband has to repeat himself around me multiple times if I don't have them in. This can make for a very frustrating family life. I really don't want to go back to that "what'd you say?" lifestyle...

Here's the deal- Hearing Aids are EXPENSIVE and insurance does NOT cover them.
I've talked to my audiologist, and a new PAIR is about $4500.  At this moment, I'm only asking for help for one of them, so about $2200. The one that needs replacing started breaking the Friday before Christmas, and finally broke on me the Tuesday after Christmas.

With my level of hearing loss, I need specific hearing aids. Even used, refurbished ones are not reccommended at this point. This is because there is no guarantee they can be completely re-digitized for my needs.

This past year, my husband has not had a steady job, so our savings have long since been drained. He does have a steady job now, but we have not been able to rebuild our savings quite yet. Our credit is no where near where it should be, so getting approved for a credit card to pay for it is going to be challenging as well. Even if we could, we can not easily afford a credit card payment without struggling on a monthly basis. I am a work at home mom, selling items I crochet. However, my sales at this point are mostly around the holidays. They tend to drop off the majority of the year, simply due to the nature of items I make.

Even at church, a place where normally everything is super loud, I feel like I am hearing in a tunnel or underwater. Unless it is a direct conversation, with someone, one on one, with no background noise, I can't understand what is being said around me. This caused tears for my multiple times in a matter of 2 hours due to the pure frustration.

I'm hoping to get this one hearing aid replaced within a couple of weeks. Being able to hear my family and friends is a huge deal to me, and I just need a little help to be able to do that right now. I've been in tears off and on, since that Friday before Christmas, knowing I was going to have to do something soon, and with no real good way to do it.

We, as a family, truly do appreciate anything you can give towards this goal of helping me hear clearly again.
