I am asking for help to purchase my first home after experiencing all of the financial challenges that come with a year-long layoff,  and more recently, a $1000 medical bill. Now that I am finally working again, and after many months of searching, I've found a great home, in a safe neighborhood, but realized that I need some help with the down payment, which has a target date of March 20, 2019.  

I have already saved a portion of the down payment needed but won't be able to meet the remaining amount needed with the time I have left. I also tried (unsuccessfully) to get help from local down payment assistance programs, but was told that I didn't qualify. As you may already know, buying a home in California is no easy task, especially when you're taking on that task alone.
