MyFightWithCancer Roland's Fight Against Stage 4 Cancer

My name is Roland, and I’ve recently been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer that has spread to my liver while living and working in Bangkok, Thailand with my wife and 2-year-old son.

Based on what my oncologist says, the prognosis is roughly 5-7 years with the treatment plan they've established, though I fully intend to beat this disease. As a husband, father, and believer, this diagnosis has brought my life into sharp focus on what truly matters: faith, family, and service.

By God’s grace, my family is financially secure today through careful planning and saving. At this time, we do not urgently need help with medical expenses, but I recognize that unexpected costs and challenges may still arise in the future as it's a 5-7 year treatment plan and I don't know the cost of new technologies, treatments, nor at what point working in an office might become difficult. Without insurance, the financial burden would be significant, and experimental treatments are also usually not covered.

I’m opening this GoFundMe not from a place of need, but from a place of humility and stewardship. Some have asked how they can help and were looking for a way to contribute. This is simply one way to do so that could make a significant difference in the future. If more is raised than we need, we will donate the excess to causes that help families navigating cancer with faith.

Most of all, we ask for prayers of healing, peace, and for the opportunity to share our story in a way that glorifies God. I want to document every step, not just the treatments, but the emotions, the wins, and the hard moments. If you're going through something similar, you're not alone.

It's really difficult for me to show weakness and vulnerability by starting this GoFundMe, but God asks us to help carry each other's burdens and to allow others to do the same for us (Galatians 6:2), because loving each other is part of being human and Christian (John 13:34). I'm sharing my story to help those in similar situations or facing other crises not feel so alone in their fight with a YouTube vlog where I chronicle my journey daily.
