Myeloma UK & Ward 12 Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, for Bob

Donation protected
On January 29th, my wonderful dad Bob Smith died, having lived for around six years with myeloma, a form of blood cancer.

Myeloma is incurable. But there are treatments that can help manage it. Frequent blood transfusions, chemotherapy, stem cell transplants and other interventions can support people to live longer and live well, post diagnosis.

My dad's treatment came via the wonderful staff at Ward 12 of Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. This caring, hardworking team supported him and his family throughout, with honesty, integrity and a personal touch which helped every one of us cope, and kept him enjoying his life as his condition changed and he underwent many different interventions. When it became clear that his time was shortening they supported him and us, with sensitivity and dignity, to make difficult decisions and find a way forward.

In his memory, we would like to split any funds raised between Ward 12 and Myeloma UK, a charity organisation which funds research, education and support for people living with or working to treat this condition.

Please give what you can, and don't forget to tick the Gift Aid box if it applies to you.

And regardless of any financial contribution, please consider giving blood. Without the kind donations of strangers several times a week, Dad's life would have been considerably shorter.
