Hello and thank you for stopping by. As many of you know my mother had a run of unfortunate medical circumstances in a short period of time. The first being a stroke in 2004. After a few years and what seemed to be a very productive recovery her health began to deteriorate and the worst part was that we did not know why. This is when I moved up North to help. After hundreds of tests and near death experiences the Doctors diagnosed her with renal kidney failure amongst a few other things. This stemmed from Hepatis C that slowly destroyed her kidneys. Although she reugularly visited her practitioner she was never diagnosed until it was almost too late. She most likely contracted the virus after receiving transfusions after my birth(sorry). After diagnosis she was immediately put on dyalysis for 3 days a week while awaiting a kidney. A few years later our prayers were answered and the gift of a kidney arrived. However the Hepatitis C virus remained, ready to attack.
Last year a breakthrough in the treatment of Hepatitis C treatment was presented to us. It seemed too good to be true and after devastating treatments such as Interferon we were skeptical. With no other options we obliged and my Mom began a 30 week regiment of ledipasvir and sofosbuvir. The pill ingested only once a week was simple and non destructive. The best part though is that she no longer is carrying this horrible virus!!!!! With the virus and new kidney she had limited time here with us. With this new medication/cure she will be able to see her daughter graduate from college, grandkids( shut-up those of you who know me,lol) and everything else the world has to offer, oh and Sam Elliott, hahah...She Lovvvvves Sam. This still requires extreme effort, countless Dr. visits, expensive medication, specific diet, physical therapy etc.
Yes my mother will enjoy many more years on this crazy little planet. The kicker is that these pills were $1,000.00 a pop out of pocket($30,000.00). This along with the fact that she just had her benefits reduced has put her in a financial crunch and with medical, prescription(anti-rejection) piling up amongst the day to day finances she is facing eviction. With legal fees and 4 months of back rent the property management company is seeking over $7,000.
This home is perfect for her and she has put a lot of money, energy and love into making it her own. Please help if you can. I recently put everything I had cash wise into my new business and medical bills of my own after my hiking accident last year unaware of what was to come.I have put my watch up for auction to help lessen the blow so that will help. Paperwork has been filed for supplemental insurance and with Social Security to get her back to where she was monetarily before all of this. Unfortunately that can take quite some time. I thank all of you who took the time to read this and greatly appreciate anyone that can help whether by donation, prayers or by spreading the word.
Sincerely - Tom
