We like to focus on the happy moments as we know each day we have with them is a blessing. But the reality is that caring for special needs animals is NOT always joyous. It comes with many heartaches, endless nights of no sleep, hours & days worrying if this could be the moment we loose them, constantly feeling like we could do more, always praying we will be able to help them all & sacrificing our own wants & desires so that they can have what they need. There is NO me in committing yourself to do right by a life that depends on you for so much. It is a sacrifice of my time, my energy, my resources, & my life that I will gladly give over & over again to show these amazing little babies just how important they are. Although this is the life I have chosen & the path I know I was meant to follow, it does not mean it is an easy one. It comes with fear & anxiety at levels I never knew humanly possible. There are many great rescue groups doing such amazing work, and each is struggling like the next to save & give new hope to a life. I am just 1 person who, on their own is trying to ease that strain & devote my time to those that need me the most. To give these sweet babies the same respect & opportunities for a forever home filled with love & a life they deserve.

Even though I help fundraise for @columbushrs and @ohio_house_rabbit_rescue and will continue to do so, I find myself in need to help keep our babies comfortable and healthy.

Although I believe God never gives you more than you can handle, I sometimes think he has more faith in me than I do. We have been limping our AC through the past 2 seasons in order to save enough money to eventually replace it. Every time we get close enough to having "spare" funds, a rabbit becomes ill, we taken in another who needs us too, medical supplies increase, our ONLY vehicle needs serviced or something else breaks in our home that requires immediate attention to live day to day. Awgh!! As an artist, I can assure you my financial situation is literally feast or famine. There is a reason they call it "Starving Artist." Almost 100% of my income goes directly to the care of our fur babies and their needs, as we are not a nonprofit nor rely on others for financial gain. As such, I try my best to do right by my babies and others by offering my services and / or art for sale to raise money for supplies that we find ourselves in a time struggling to purchase. This time, we need our AC fixed asap. Luckily and by the Grace of God, we have someone to replace the unit for us at cost. So, I find myself for the first time asking for assistance, NOT for us but for the comfort and health of our rescue babies. We have done our best in moving everyone around the house to get them as close as possible to the portable ACs, setting up every floor fan & battery powered fans we own as well as cooling tiles and even installing black out blinds as we have many windows in our home facing East-West all in an attempt to keep everyone as comfortable as we can as the temperatures begin to rise over 80 degrees. Rabbits naturally struggle in extreme heat conditions to begin with, and then when you add health issues on top of that, it's a recipe for disaster. Needless to say, there is NO sleep in sight for me, as I spend most of my time now checking temperatures, monitoring breathing, changing batteries and cooling packs as well as worrying about someone getting close enough to someone else to cause harm or injury themselves in the temporary areas we have set up for them. Our #1 Priority is our babies, and their comfort and health.
