Mya's Hope for a New Service Partner
Donation protected
Please help raise money for a service dog for Mya McIntosh through Scout’s Legacy and help spread the word to others who can donate! As you may have heard, her service dog Nico passed away very recently.
Scout’s Legacy Service Dogs (SLSD, https://www.scoutslegacy.com/) is a unique service dog organization for training service dogs tailored to people’s individual disability needs. Clients work with SLSD in a two-year long program of outings, classes, and a detailed online curriculum of lessons and practiced and tested skills for public access and task training for the client’s disability.
Mya has worked towards a service dog for her needs since 2017, beginning with a bubbly yellow lab in 2020 who went on to graduate as a successful service dog with a mutual friend in SLSD. Her journey continued with the most perfect laidback dream best friend named Nico who lived a life in full color. A golden in many trades, he partook in show, swim, and service. He enjoyed his first time receiving treats to background music in a college musical production and traveled to the most magical place on earth to continue being the best partner one could dream of. Nico passed away by sudden means that were tragic to all of us who have loved him. Our hearts are broken for this great loss, especially Mya who benefited from his partnership more than she could ever imagine.
Because of her needs as she heads toward a challenging internship away from DFW this spring and summer, then toward grad school that may involve a move away from her home area, a started dog is best for her. Started dogs begin their training with SLSD; Mya’s dog will have about half his or her training under his or her vest when she takes him or her for the remainder of the training program.
We are hoping there will be a new SLSD puppy that is a good match for her needs from expected litters of golden retrievers this winter and spring, and we would like to help her raise money for her pup right away to minimize some of the time she will be without a service dog. Please help us by donating and spreading the word!
