Hallo, ik ben Anja Krakeel uit Breda en ben deze actie gestart om geld in te zamelen voor de slachtoffers van de aardbeving in Myanmar. De reden waarom ik deze actie start, is mijn hechte vriendschap met mensen uit Myanmar die in 2021 zijn gevlucht naar Thailand en het leren kennen van een jonge vrouw die nu in Nederland woont.
Ook zij is gevlucht voor de burgeroorlog die sinds 2021 woedt, na een militaire staatsgreep.
Ook nu dwingt het regime, jonge hulpverlenende mensen, het leger in te gaan. Ze worden letterlijk van de straat geplukt.
Na jarenlange isolatie, is nu onverwachts door het regime om buitenlandse hulp gevraagd en zal de rest van de wereld hopelijk zien, wat er nog meer gaande is in Myanmar. Echter buitenlandse journalisten worden niet toegelaten. Nieuws wordt mondjesmaat naar buiten gebracht via lokale journalisten, wat voor hen niet zonder gevaar is.
Infrastructuur en ziekenhuizen waren al slecht en door deze verwoestende aardbeving is hulpverlening nog moeilijker geworden.
Er zijn grote tekorten aan medicijnen, schoon drinkwater, voedsel en onderkomen. Doel is om het geld daaraan te besteden. Dit zijn nu de eerste levensbehoeften waar de slachtoffers het meeste behoefte aan hebben in de komende maanden.
Geef de mensen in Myanmar weer een beetje hoop, na jarenlange ellende van Covid-19, oorlog en natuurrampen. Kijk niet weg en onderneem actie.

Hello, I am Anja Krakeel from Breda (Netherlands) and I started this campaign to raise money for the victims of the earthquake in Myanmar. The reason why I started this campaign is my close friendship with people from Myanmar who fled to Thailand in 2021 and getting to know a young woman who now lives in the Netherlands.
She also fled the civil war that has been raging since 2021, after a military coup.
Now too, the regime is forcing young aid workers to join the army. They are literally plucked from the streets.
After years of isolation, the regime has now unexpectedly asked for foreign aid and the rest of the world will hopefully see what else is going on in Myanmar. However, foreign journalists are not allowed in. News is being brought out in small doses via local journalists, which is not without danger for them.
Infrastructure and hospitals were already poor and this devastating earthquake has made aid even more difficult.
There are major shortages of medicines, clean drinking water, food and shelter. The goal is to spend the money on this. These are the basic necessities that the victims need most in the coming months.
Give the people in Myanmar a little hope again, after years of misery from Covid-19, war and natural disasters. Don't look away and take action.
