Myanmar Earthquake Disaster Relief

Donation protected
This isn’t something I ever thought I’d do. I’m not someone who asks for help — let alone money — but the situation in Myanmar right now is beyond desperate, and I can’t stay silent.

My beautiful big sister (non-blood related, but family in every way that matters) is currently in Sagaing, Myanmar — one of the cities closest to the epicentre of the recent 7.7 magnitude earthquake. She’s working around the clock to get food, clean water, bedding, and medicine to survivors — people who are sleeping in the streets because their homes have collapsed, with the stench of corpses still trapped beneath the rubble.

Twelve preschool children and their teacher were crushed when their kindergarten collapsed. That sentence alone should break us all.

But the nightmare doesn’t stop there. The military junta continues to bomb quake-affected areas and block emergency aid from reaching regions outside their control. International humanitarian efforts are being strangled by corruption and politics. And to make matters worse, I’ve come across scams and military-linked charities exploiting this tragedy.

That’s why I’m raising funds directly for my sister. She’s there — on the ground — getting urgent supplies into the hands of people who have nothing left. I trust her completely. Every single cent will go straight to her. No middlemen. No shady organisations. Just real, immediate help.

This crisis is deeply personal. I haven’t been able to return to Myanmar in over five years. I didn’t get to say goodbye to my grandmother before she passed. My uncle was imprisoned for assisting the resistance. A close relative of mine lost their life in the fighting. Like so many others in the diaspora, I’ve been watching from afar — grieving, aching, helpless.

But right now, I have a way to help. And I’m asking — humbly — for your support.

I don’t have the words to capture the full scale of the devastation. I just know that people are in agony. And that we can do something.

If you’ve read this far, thank you. If you’re able to give — even just a little — thank you. And if you can’t, please share this. It truly helps.

With love and hope,
Jas
