Hello, my name is Maya and I’m the proud dog mom of this beautiful boy Zeus, nicknamed Zeusbutt because he is always hitting things with his butt and he loves buttscratches more than anything.
So the gist of what’s going on is this.
Yesterday morning (6/12/19) he seemed like he wasn’t feeling so well, so I looked him over and his tummy was a bit distended and he was quite lethargic, his gums and the inside of his ears were very pale, after doing some research and reaching out to a vet I know, I took Zeus to an emergency clinic. They told me the worst news I’ve ever heard in my entire life. They said Zeus has a tumor in his stomach and it has ruptured, he is bleeding internally and he is likely going to bleed out and die.
They said I could have a surgery done on him which may save his life, but the surgery costs almost $7,000 and I barely live paycheck to paycheck some weeks.
The vet told me that there is a 67% chance that the tumor is cancerous and it is likely attached to his spleen or possibly his liver.
If the tumor is cancerous it will likely metastasize and spread though his body, however, if the tumor is not cancerous then I can have it removed and he will live a long happy life. Luckily Zeus made it through the night, but he is my baby and I have to do everything in my power to help him get better.
My goal here is to raise the money to be able to have an ultrasound done and some additional testing to see if the tumor is cancerous, and if it is not, then my goal is to aim for the surgery to remove it and give my baby a long wonderful life with his family.
The ultrasound and testing is around $680 and then the surgery is around $6,900.
This does not include aftercare or chemotherapy if the tumor is cancerous.
Here is some backstory,
I got Zeus in May 2011 right after I graduated high school, I got him from the Dumb Friends League, I first saw him in his kennel and he was so happy and awkward looking I just had to meet him. His head was too big for his body and he just looked so lovable. When he was brought into the room to meet me he got so excited his entire butt was wagging and he just peed himself. I know it’s silly but as soon as that happened I knew he was going to be my baby. My sister helped me get him and pick out a leash and everything and I paid for him myself.
I got to take him home the next day.
Since the very first day I had him I fell in love, he has always slept in my bed with me every single night, whenever I go to a friends or relatives house I take him with me, and he is always by my side. He is my baby and I love him more than anything in this world.
My dad is always joking saying that I tell Zeus that I love him more than I say that to all of my family members combined. And my whole family says they have never seen a dog better behaved or more loved than my Zeusbutt ❤️
Almost a year ago Zeus broke his foot and we spent a few thousand dollars on vet trips and x-rays and medical bills in general to help him recover, but my family and I are pretty tapped out financially and we aren’t able to cover the cost of even the ultrasound. Our vet bill yesterday was almost $300 just for them to check him out and see what the problem is.
So I know people don’t often have much spare money lying around, but if you do have a spare few dollars to help my baby, I would be eternally grateful.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
