Happy New Year to my Nearest and Dearest !
As most of you know, I have moved back to la fermette - L'Oustalou - to make a nearly full-time project out of the place.
It was not a difficult decision as L'Oustalou is my Yoga, my Service, and my Offering. It is my home.
It is my labor of love.
As most of you also know since investing in this project ten years ago, much has changed for me personally.
Originally, the fermette was meant to be a shared adventure on behalf of shared passions.
However, life took an unexpected turn.
Everything came at once - separation, elder parent care, Covid ...
Choices and changes needed to be made.
I found myself making an absolutely undeniable decision -
I vowed to keep L'Oustalou and realize the Vision.
I knew there would be sacrifices but I remain steadfast.
My Vision -
To continue improving on the infrastructure to make L'Oustalou a humble, rustic, and accessible space for healing and creativity, on-going education, community and connection.
- YogaTerroir seasonal retreats
- EFV Yr10 weekends
- An inexpensive rental space for EFV teachers to host your students (4-6)
- Weekend study groups for continuing education with me
- Weekend study groups with visiting senior teachers for continuing education (Jill Miller is tentatively confirmed)
- Fun holiday gatherings
- And, a getaway for my nearest and dearest to rest, reflect, and renew whenever you need/want to escape Paris or wherever. The door is always open. A warm bed and bountiful garden await.
Action Plan -
- Replace the roof on the yoga barn, with a view to eventually installing solar panels.
- Replace the roof and storm gutters on the cottage.
- Reinforce and level the yurt base.
- Insulate the walls and floor with chaux-chanvre in the three dependances.
- Purchase a generator.
- Update the electrical system throughout.
- Run electricity to the yurt for efficient and reliable heat year round.
This will take time and resources. I have spent several months talking to professionals and getting quotes.
And in a turn of tremendous luck, my dear friend and BFAM, Russ, was able to secure a long duration visa to come to the fermette for at least a year. His brains, brawn, and endless energy has helped me see things through fresh eyes and prioritize in a more organized, systematic way ;-)
As I remind students all of the time, the practice is a perpetual exchange, a conversation, a giving and a receiving. We were never meant to walk this Dharmic journey alone.
My intention is to provide something tangible and long-standing for the communities that we've co-created
(YogaTerroir, Bhakti Flow, EFV), and I need your help to do it.
Asking for help is not my strength, but I'm doing the vulnerable thing at a vital time.
Trying my best to walk the talk ;-)
Thank You. Merci. Gracias.
