- Hi, I’m Esther. I’m privileged to be one of Bethany Smith’s 7 siblings. My sister was diagnosed a year ago with two cancers. Hodgkin’s lymphoma and thyroid cancer. She had bravely and with humour fought through many treatments so far. Chemotherapy, (overcoming sepsis twice while immunosuppressed), a total thyroidectomy, a hip replacement (to remove the cancer there), radiation to her spine and hip and most recently radioactive iodine. She has been told heartbreakingly that treatment can only extend her life (not cure her). They can’t be sure for how long. You can see from the photo she and her amazing husband have a wonderful and young family.
- Bethany is such a kind and generous hearted person. To know her is to love her. So many people have done so much to help her and so many of us want to do more. Well… With that in mind, she recently found out that if she can pay for it, she has the opportunity to have a course of oxygen therapy (hyperbaric chamber style) as it’s been found to help in some instances to shrink/contain growth of cancerous tumours-of which she has 8 in her bones. The treatment is 5-6 months and costs £5,000. My goal is to raise £2,500 at least. I figured if 500 friends donate £5 we’ll make it! Any more than that is a wonderful bonus!
