I've never done a GoFundMe before so bear with me! I am excited to announce that I am finally going to Sri Lanka this summer! I had the incredible honor of codesigning a wildlife camera project at a naturally regenerated forest site. The property, which was once used for agriculture, was purchased over three decades ago by an individual that aimed to allow the forest to regenerate and biodiversity to thrive. We plan to determine what kinds of mammals are calling this secondary forest home by way of wildlife cameras, and to use what we discover to communicate with community members as well as inform property management of what their efforts have produced! So with the blessing of my amazing employer, I get to go out and help in the field alongside two spectacular PIs under the advisement of a local wildlife conservation organization. In between field days, I will be out hiking and exploring the beautiful country. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I am so excited to learn and help discover more of what can be used to make conservation decisions! So that's where your loving support comes in. This fundraiser is aimed at helping me cover the cost of the plane ticket, a room and living expenses as well as transportation for the month I am gone (end of June through July)!
