My Wife Journey of Survival March 25th 2025 She’s a miracle

We humbly request your attention to our harrowing experience, which we believe serves as a testament to the profound reality of divine intervention. On March 25, 2025, our lives took an unexpected turn, leaving us in a state of profound fear and uncertainty.
As we went about our daily routine, my wife suddenly experienced a severe shortness of breath, causing her to attempt self-treatment. Despite her valiant efforts, she felt herself suffocating and urgently requested that I call a cab. We have a 10-month-old whom we were preparing to put to bed.
In a matter of seconds, panic gripped me, and I swiftly summoned our car, grabbed our baby, and rushed to my wife’s aid. She was barely clothed, and her condition was dire. As we approached the parking lot, my wife collapsed to her knees, and I implored for help.
The parking attendant, Luis, arrived promptly and assisted me in placing Michelle in the passenger seat. While he was doing so, I secured our baby in the backseat. The hospital is approximately a 5-7 minute drive away, but I drove at an alarming speed, narrowly avoiding traffic lights.
Upon reaching the emergency side, I exited the car, screaming for assistance. Our baby was terrified, and my wife’s condition was rapidly deteriorating. Emergency medical technicians and police arrived swiftly, carrying a wheelchair to transport my wife to the trauma center.
I found myself in the waiting room with our baby boy attempting to maintain my composure. However, panic gripped me once more, and several workers rushed to assist me. Their kindness and support were invaluable, as they diverted their attention from our distress.
I immediately contacted my mother and family urging them to rush to our side. The trauma physician informed me that if there was no significant improvement within the next 7 minutes, they would need to intubate my wife. Without hesitation, I conveyed my unwavering determination to save her life.
The ensuing events in the emergency room were a blur of chaos and anxiety. The overwhelming situation left me in a state of disorientation and despair. Despite the successful intubation, the situation escalated rapidly. Michelle was transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU), where she underwent intubation, ventilation, and sedation. She remained unaware of her surroundings.
Since her admission to the ICU, the dedicated team of doctors and nurses remained by her side, continuously conducting tests. They discovered that she had ammonia in both lungs, which exacerbated her asthma.
The weeks passed, and each moment was arduous as we witnessed her condition. However, amidst the pain, we found solace in our unwavering faith. The compassionate doctors and nurses possessed the knowledge and expertise to find solutions and refused to give up. My wife’s strength endured, and she fought valiantly.
Every day, I would bring our Bible to her, reading prayers aloud. Occasionally, she made progress, but setbacks were also encountered. One constant that sustained us during this ordeal was our unshakable faith in God.
Despite her fever and respiratory difficulties, we maintained our faith. The doctors informed me that if her condition did not improve as expected, she would be transferred to Columbia Hospital or undergo a procedure to provide the necessary oxygen.
The thought of all of this was insane to grasp or make any sense of it . My wife is an exceptional human being who prioritized the well-being of others above her own. Witnessing her vulnerability and lack of control over her situation was heart-wrenching.
I engaged in frequent conversations with both the day and night teams of doctors, expressing my gratitude for even the slightest progress they made. They cared for my wife not only as their professional obligation but also with genuine concern and determination.
Every individual in the ICU unit made it a point to provide updates and check on her, even if she was not their direct patient. Gradually, alternative treatments were devised to combat Michelle’s fever and alleviate her wheezing. These treatments included administering eight sedatives, intubation, and a hilax tank. Upon visiting hours concluding, I would hastily depart for the next day’s visit, as everyone in the hospital was familiar with Michelle’s condition. Upon entering or exiting the hospital, all staff members from the entrance to the exit would inquire about her progress. Our family would offer daily prayers, both in person and virtually, as a testament to the overwhelming love and support Michelle received.
As the days progressed, Michelle experienced significant improvements. Her doctors began discussing the possibility of extubation and the subsequent steps towards her recovery. After a long and arduous month, Michelle was transferred to rehabilitation to regain strength and assistance with walking, holding objects, and preparing for her return home.
Today, Michelle is finally home, and we continue her recovery journey as she grapples with the emotional trauma of this traumatic medical accident that has profoundly impacted her life. Fortunately, her life has been saved. While this is a significant adjustment, we are committed to sharing our story and working towards rebuilding a stronger Michelle, while maintaining our family’s well-being.
We express our deepest gratitude to anyone who has taken the time to read our story. We are grateful for the divine grace that has preserved our small family and for the exceptional care provided by Michelle’s dedicated doctors.
