I think honest and deeply reported journalism is important, so my work is free for anyone and everyone. I don’t charge anyone or get paid. However, lots of people tell me that last part is stupid. They have a point. So, if you feel like the reporting I’ve done has meaning and value to you and to the public, if you understand how much time and effort and resources and risk go into this kind of work, and if you can spare it, you’re invited to express your appreciation here.

To be clear: This won’t be funding new work, which I can’t guarantee I’ll find in the first place, and even if I do I can’t guarantee it will be useful or interesting to you — instead, this page is a way for folks out there to say that, yes, what I’ve already done matters, and to show that free, independent, honest reporting is still actually worth something.
