My Wife Has Enough For Both of Us (Top Surgery)
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Dani (they/them) and I need some help. I am 25, non-binary transmasculine (not a man or a woman but very masculine leaning), and have been Googling and dreaming about top surgery for years now. I have been on testosterone for just over a year and, with the support of my fantastic wife, I'm ready to pursue the next part of my gender journey.
Top surgery (similar to a mastectomy) will help my outside match the inside more closely as well as greatly reduce my risk of breast cancer. My mom and grandmother both passed away at 50 from cancer. These chest additions are not worth my life; please assist me in dismissing them.
This is where the power of friendship is needed. Surgery is expensive and kind of scary. My insurance will cover a portion of the cost but I will still be responsible for thousands of dollars. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated and go towards the cost of my surgery, recovery supplies, and related expenses. I am hoping to have my surgery in 2021, while a few insurance and life things will allow me to. Imagine the shirts I could wear!
The goal I have set is little more than the bare minimum to give us some breathing room; if I do not hit that number, I will not be discouraged! These are funky times we're living in, so please don't feel pressured to donate. A like, comment, or share will be helpful too!
If you would like to know more about top surgery and what being non-binary means to me, please see below.
Much love and appreciation,
Dani
P.S. I have full wife permission for the title. She came up with it lol. She's the best :)
Top surgery: a reconstructive surgery performed on the chest for those who wish to alter their chest size, shape, and overall appearance. This surgery is typically performed by a plastic surgeon that has specific training in transgender or gender-affirming surgeries. Dani wants a flatter, more masculine chest. This is a fairly common procedure and very safe!
Non-binary: an umbrella term covering all gender identities outside the gender binary. Individuals can and do identify with nonbinary as their specific identity. Not exclusively masculine or feminine—identities that are outside the gender binary. Non-binary identities can fall under the transgender umbrella. Dani is quite happily non-binary and trans.
