Wage Loss Due To Upcoming Surgery

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Rob (Restored) Morgan, and I’m fundraising for the estimated wage loss I will incur during recovery from the surgery I will have in a few weeks at Emory University Hospital. Last January I had to have the upper left lobe of my lung removed (a lobectomy) due to a potentially deadly lung disease called MAC lung disease which is an infection caused a group of bacteria called Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC). Since that surgery the road to recovery has been paved with setbacks, as well as relapses in debilitating, and sometimes severe symptoms, such as fever, severe shortness of breath, extreme coughing to where I can hardly keep food down, which has contributed to severe weight loss, plus many other symptoms. Fast forward to this past Monday when my wife and I went to Emory in Atlanta to consult with a Thoracic Surgeon to hear what options there was. The options were very limited. My whole team of physicians which includes a thoracic surgeon, a pulmonologist, and an infectious disease physician agree that the remainder of my left lung is literally ate up with infection and disease, and needs to be removed immediately. Also my right lung is showing signs of the disease as well, which we believe is being fed by what’s left of my diseased left lung. This surgery will be a major surgery, twice as serious as my last lobectomy. If I don’t get the surgery I will die. Which brings me to the reason I literally swallowed my pride (thank you Don Harbuck) and started this GoFundMe, this surgery will put me in the hospital for two weeks or more, with three to four months of recovery afterwards. And although we have insurance, the out of pocket expenses will be very high. However I’m not asking for help with medical expenses, I’m asking for help due to potentially losing three or more months of wages. I don’t have enough paid time off accrued to cover my time out of work. We have estimated that amount of wages to be right at 10K or more. My wife and I have a very simple life, nothing fancy, but we love the life that God has given us. We are beyond grateful. My wife can’t pay all the bills on her income alone. Point blank, it would take everything she has just to hang on to our beautiful home. We still have vehicles to pay for etc. My wife and I both are not the type of people to ask for help. Ask anyone who knows us and they will agree. But we are asking now. God help me, but I don’t believe I’ve ever been so scared. And with the added burden of wondering how we are going to afford everything? Well….it’s pretty overwhelming. I’ve asked God hundreds of times to take this disease from me, He has chosen not to grant that prayer. But I will say this, as crazy as it sounds, this disease has made me a better man, it has actually strengthened my relationship with Jesus. His ways are not our ways right? I would ask that you please consider helping us if you can. Thank you so very much & God Bless!
