Hi all, firstly, thank you so much for considering donating to my fundraising efforts for an extremely worthy charity, the Brain Tumour Alliance Australia www.btaa.org.au
I have always been completely fascinated with Mount Everest and have read many books and watched all movies on it. For anyone who gets to the summit, I am in complete awe! In all honesty, the summit completely terrifies me but in November 2022, I have decided to do a two-week solo trek (accompanied by my sherpa) in the region. I will end up at Everest Base Camp but have chosen the longer and tougher route to get there.
The trip will start with a sketchy flight from Katmandhu to Lukla airport, known to be ‘the world's most dangerous airport’ due to having the highest, shortest and steepest runway in the world. From then on, I trek to various peaks over the course of the two weeks: 1) Gokyo Ri at 5360m, 2) Cho La Pass at 5420m, 3) Kalapatthar at 5550m and 4) Everest Base Camp at 5364m, all while contending with below-freezing conditions, low oxygen levels, possible altitude sickness, gorgeous greasy hair and interesting smells due to only accessing a shower once during the trek!
While doing this, I want to raise funds and awareness for the Brain Tumour Alliance Australia (BTAA), in honour of my dear friend Harry Parsons. Harry has had recurring brain tumours since I first met him in 2015 and his battle still goes on. With his strength and determination, he will beat this b*****d, but charities like BTAA provide help and support to patients and their families when their lives have been turned upside down.
I know there will be pain to come and moments where I doubt whether I can keep on going, but you will always be in my mind Haz and I promise to not give up!
Any donation is hugely appreciated. Thank you! Jenn (or as Harry calls me, Crammy) x
