Hi, our names our Brande' & Mande Bentz. Matthew’s sisters. Both her and I put this forum together, however I, (Brande’) am writing this story. We grew up in a small family of 4. Pam, our Mother who raised 3 kids, 2 1/2 years apart. Brande’ (oldest), Mande’ & Matt (only male in the house) Matt being 2 1/2 Minutes older than his twin sister, Mande'. Anyone who knew Matt, knows that was important, factual info to know. Matthew is one to live in the moment, and was unapologetically himself. He Loved Hard, had a heart of gold and a personality that stole the hearts of so many throughout his short lifetime. His mother was his Hero. He took with him a Huge Part of our Mom, but as she's said, it belonged to him anyway.❤️
Matthew was tragically taken from us by Suffering a Cardiac Arrest while driving. (No one else was hurt) He was only just across the street to his home when this happened. That sudden, traumatic & life changing event left us all in a state of shock and disbelief.
The outpour of prayers, Love & the support throughout this heartbreaking time has truly been a blessing & very much appreciated. He stayed in a Coma in the MICU at UCDavis for 19 days. Our Mother was by his side 12 hours of the day, every single day. Willing him to wake up and say, "Mom". At this stage in time, we learned the damage to his brain was too severe & was not repairable. As a family, we based our decision on what his wishes would have been. Life support was removed on July 2nd @ 6 p.m.
When Matthew was first born, he took his first breath in his Mother's loving arms; And, Almost 40 years later, his very Last breath was taken in his Mother's Loving, and now heartbroken arms, with Mande also by his side on July 3rd @ 2:19 a.m. No Mother should ever have to endure the unbearable pain in burying their own child.
We are all devastated by Matthew's loss and were not prepared for the high cost of a funeral service.
We want to give our brother and son the memorial he deserves, to honor his memory and say our last goodbyes.
