Hello! Thank you for visiting my GoFundMe page. For those of you who aren't aware or familiar with my condition, I have been diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy. Basically, there is an antibody lodged in my kidneys which makes it so my kidneys can't filter things anymore. I had been healthy my whole life, I've never even broken a bone (knock on wood)! Then all of a sudden, I'm 20 years old, ending up in a hospital because my kidneys are completely shutting down. I have been fortunate over the last five years to take daily medication that is keeping my condition stable and has allowed me to stay off of dialysis thus far. My goal, and my doctor's goal, is to obtain a kidney before I ever need to be on dialysis. A lot of people wonder how a transplant works. Do I get two new kidneys? Do they take the old ones out? I actually keep the two kidneys I have, even though they barely function, and I will receive one new kidney that will go in my lower abdomen. My new kidney will pick up the slack that my dead kidneys can't do anymore. It's all very strange and is going to be very weird but in the long run, I am going to be 100% healthy and back to normal. I am hoping to receive a kidney transplant by the end of 2018. I have been on the transplant list for five years now, and considering my young age and overall health, I am a great candidate for a deceased donor kidney. With your donations, you will be helping my husband and I with hospital bills and living expenses as I will be taking twelve weeks off of work. It is going to be a very challenging time for us, not only financially, but physically, mentally, and emotionally. Any donations and every single thought and prayer will help my family and I through this transplant. I appreciate every one of you so much, thank you for taking the time to read my story.
