My Tour De 4 Fundraiser to Fight Cancer

Some of you will know that I was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in February this year. I have been told it is inoperable and incurable.

My whole life has changed since then. Accepting my future has been hard, for me and the family. But what I do know is that I'm alive today! I intend to live my life to the full, appreciating all the wonderful people, places and things that fill my days.

What attracted me to Chris Hoy's Tour de 4 event is the focus on people 'living with' stage 4 cancer, and not just dying from it. This sums up my attitude to life. We need to raise the profile of people living with Stage 4. And of course I will be doing all I can to raise awareness of early diagnosis of bowel cancer, and investment into research so that we can find a cure for this disease.

Before my diagnosis, we did not own a car. I went everywhere on my beloved electric bike, which I loved, even in the winter. Tour de 4 is Chris Hoy's wants to make visible those living with stage 4 cancer being active. However, my health now means I'm not able to take on the long rides, so I will be taking part on the static bikes in the Chris Hoy velodrome. My son Eugene and son-in-law Craig are tackling the long 90km cycle route ending at the velodrome in Glasgow, raising funds for Maggie's Centre and Bowel Cancer UK.
