Want to join me in supporting a good cause? I'm raising money for Maggie's and your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate a lot or a little. Anything helps. Thank you for your support.
My husband, Conny, was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma in August 2018. It originated in his eye 3 years previously, was successfully treated, but reappeared as secondary tumours in his spine. He received a new immunotherapy treatment and responded incredibly well. He has been cancer-free now for 6 years.
As you can imagine, this has not been an easy journey; prior to the immunotherapy treatment, stage 4 melanoma was a terminal diagnosis. We are very grateful to the NHS, cancer researchers and cancer charities. When we heard about Chris Hoy’s charity cycle ride to raise awareness around stage 4 cancer in particular, it seemed an ideal opportunity to take part and raise money for Maggie’s, especially as Conny’s story is such a hopeful one.
Conny and I are both doing the 60km Blue Ride and have been training every weekend. Gradually getting better! Maggie’s is a fantastic charity which helped us when we really needed it. The Maggie’s centres are situated next to hospital cancer centres. They offer succour and refuge for cancer patients, their carers and families. The staff are very caring and knowledgeable about cancer treatments, and the physical and psychological effects of cancer. It’s difficult living with the uncertainty and loss of control that a stage 4 cancer diagnosis brings and I’m grateful for the support that Maggie’s gave to Conny, me and our children.
Please help me raise funds for the amazing Maggie’s centres. It’s very much appreciated !
