I doubt there were many people who weren't shocked and saddened to hear of Chris Hoy's stage 4 prostate cancer diagnosis. As someone with a family history of the disease I am well aware that my risk factor is a little higher but I'm also aware that, if caught early, prostate cancer is curable. A close friend of mine is living proof of this. More needs to be done to increase awareness of prostate cancer and improve the accuracy, reliability and accessibility of screening methods to ensure all men have the best chance of surviving this disease.

On September 7th I will be joining over 2000 fellow cyclists riding the Tour de 4. I will be taking on the 56 mile red route starting from the Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow and raising money for Prostate Cancer UK.
