I have chosen to cycle 56 miles around Glasgow because at the age of 56 my father, Frank Blande was diagnosed with Lung Cancer. 6 weeks later he passed away. This had a devastating effect on our family, and the grief of his passing has remained with me for over 45 years. I have chosen to do this ride not only in memory of my dad but in memory of all my family and friends who have been affected by stage 4 Cancer. They are too numerous to mention but remain in my thoughts most days. Having read Chris Hoys book "All that matters" one of his quotes struck a chord with me "Life is a tragedy when viewed in close up but a comedy in long shot"
(Chaplin) So true !!
