It is an unbelievable 4.5 years ago that Gavin was diagnosed with advanced cancer. As a young man (ok, not so young), pretty healthy and pretty fit, it is difficult to describe the shock and disbelief that comes with a cancer diagnosis.
Cycling had been a huge part of his life, and it continued to play a huge part of his life as he went through the brutality of chemotherapy, steroids and immunotherapy. Now cancer-free, cycling continues to be a huge part of his life, helping to keep perspective in a life now accompanied by regular scans, and with them, the stress and anxiety known as "scanxiety".
The Tour De 4, joining Chris Hoy to cycle quite a long way around Scotland, is a perfect opportunity for us to raise money (and awareness of advanced stage cancer) and we hope you'll consider making a contribution to the charity we've chosen to support, Mission Remission.
Gavin was delighted to become a trustee of Mission Remission - it's a unique charity which supports cancer survivors after they've finished treatment. It describes itself as a community that shares stories, tips, and support to make life beyond cancer a little less scary and a lot more hopeful.
As a small charity, your contribution will make a big impact, however much you're able to donate. Anything helps. Thank you for your support x
