My Tour De 4 Fundraiser to Fight Cancer
One week after my 50th birthday we received the devastating news I had smouldering myeloma, the precursor condition to multiple myeloma, a rare and incurable blood cancer effecting 1/20000 people. After two Stem Cell Transplants I’m in “remission” & under 3 weekly reviews.
We are raising funds for people or families affected by cancer. Inspired by Sir Chris Hoy who brought stage 4/incurable cancer in the public eye with his prostrate stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Claire and I plan to participate on a 40 mile cycle ride on the 7th September in Glasgow with likeminded people. We will be raising funds for Maggies Cancer Centre, an organisation that helped us at my lowest point through our Myeloma blood cancer.
Maggies helped me when I was at rock bottom. I still use the centre for support & counselling. This condition as with many cancers knocks your confidence, it’s incredibly hard to stay in the present.
I now take daily chemo medication accompanied by other meds & tested every 3 wks to monitor my condition. It’s a challenging physical and mental battle. Good days now seem to outnumber bad.
