Six months after a stage 4 diagnosis, I’m taking on the 37 mile Tour de 4 Cycle Challenge in Glasgow - your pounds will help turn pain into purpose as I pedal for Prostate Cancer UK!
My story: In February, we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary white water rafting through the wild rapids of Pacuara river in Costa Rica; indulging in the exhilaration of dodging rocks, plunging into torrents and riding waves. 3 weeks later, I was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer.
It was a bolt from the blue - news that felt like a death sentence.
While the journey since diagnosis has been incredibly tough, not least adjusting to the fatigue, low energy, and relentless aches, I have been motivated and uplifted by Sir Chris Hoy’s determination and optimism through his own cancer journey. Inspired by his recent book, All That Matters, I’m choosing to fight back - I won’t let my diagnosis define me - instead, I’m taking on the inaugural Tour de 4 Cycle Challenge in Glasgow on 7th September!
My goal is to raise £1,500 for Prostate Cancer UK - can you help? Your contribution will help improve screening to detect cancer early enough for a cure and will make a huge difference for everyone facing this battle.
Thank you for your generosity and support.
