In 2019, at the age of 46 completely asymptomatic, following a routine check up. I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, after various treatments surgery, radiotherapy, drugs over the subsequent years, I'm now at the stage where its classified as incurable, Stage 4, is the popular phrase! The meds keep it a bay, while i may not be as fit as i was, and suffer the side effects, fatigue, memory loss, weight gain to name some of the more amusing ones. Ive set myself this challenge alongside others in a similar situation to prove you can continue to live a fun life. I'm doing this challenge along side my new friends all of whom have cancer or are recovering. They are part of a fantastic charity call THE CANCER CLUB 'lets get men talking'. https://thecancerclub.org.uk/
As we all know blokes are rubbish at this side of their cancer journey, but its so necessary to speak with people in the same boat. The Cancer Club have a unique way to get us together over sport, and helping us talk to each each and in so doing getting the help, advice and support you need. So if you haven't heard of the charity please spread the word. Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate a lot or a little. Anything helps. Thank you for your support. In return, ill be riding my bike for 90km round Glasgow with with Chris Hoy and others in the same boat, proving you can do many things even when at Stage 4.
