In 2019 I was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer, after undergoing extensive surgery and chemotherapy my family and I tried to move forward and rebuild our lives. Unfortunately in the subsequent years March 2021, Jan 2022 and Dec 2023 secondary cancers were discovered in my liver and in June 2023 a secondary in my lung. After undergoing surgery to remove them all, finally in June 2024 I had my first clear scan at 6 months post surgery. I am currently waiting on the results for my most recent scan.
Update this scan has shown “no signs of recurring disease” the best news !!
I am so grateful for all the research and support I have had from cancer charities not to mention the skills of the surgical teams in 3 different hospitals as well as the oncology services.
I am one of the fortunate people who is still enjoying life after being told initially that the prognosis (if lucky) would be 5 years.
So today, with the support of my husband Jimmy, we are on our bike's for 37.9miles (all be it I will have help from a battery) trying to increase our fitness and looking forward to taking part in the Tour De 4 to raise much needed funds for further research and support for Bowel Cancer UK.
