In September I am taking on the Tour de 4, a fundraising cancer charity cycling event started by Chris Hoy, former Olympic cyclist who is living with secondary cancer.
The event is a (hilly!!) 56 mile ride in Scotland and I have entered for 2 reasons. The first is to raise money for Hunts Community Cancer Network (HCCN), the most wonderful organisation who have helped and supported so many people living with cancer, including my awesome and amazing friend Tracey Ibbett who is also living with secondary cancer. Tracey has battled cancer twice before in 2015 and 2020.
The second reason is I want to support Tracey on the ride. Yes you read that correctly - Tracey entered the main 56 mile ride as soon as she saw it advertised. Now you know why I described Tracey as awesome and amazing! Tracey has continued to cycle as much as she could over the last ten years, even when she was undergoing chemo treatment.
Tracy credits HCCN for the invaluable support and care they have provided to her over the last five years. They have provided home visits on a regular basis to avoid going to hospital for blood tests/treatment etc. HCCN also provides health, wellbeing and educational activities free of charge. HCCN believes that no one should face cancer alone. All volunteers are unpaid and HCCN relies solely on donations.
Any contributions you can make for this invaluable organisation will be greatly appreciated. Thank you .
