In the autumn of 2022 my mum was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour in her lung, spine, ribs and skull.

It was later found that the cancer was caused by a mutation in the EGFR (epidermal growth factor receptor) gene. This mutation causes the EGFR protein to malfunction, leading to uncontrolled cell growth and division, ultimately causing cancer.

Her condition is treatable but not curable. Since her diagnosis the EGFR+ charity has provided crucial support and help.

EGFR+UK is the only UK charity exclusively dedicated to families and patients affected by the gene-driven, EGFR+ lung cancer.
