Jamie's Tour De 4 Fundraiser to Fight Cancer
Without doubt, you will have heard of the six-time Gold Olympic medallist, Chris Hoy. His unbelievably positive attitude to his Stage 4 cancer diagnosis is truly inspiring and made me purchase my first road bike in over 35 years! His book "All that Matters" is well worth a read.
I am fortunate not to be too impacted by the testicular cancer that hit me in 2011 and now I am donning the lycra as one of those MAMIL (Middle-Aged Man In Lycra) that you see at the weekend on our Devon lanes. Training has already begun ahead of Chris Hoy's event in Glasgow on 7th September - the Tour de 4 - 90km and a few hills along the way - almost 1000m elevation change.
There are so many wonderful deserving causes, but I have chosen Prostate Cancer UK. Prostate cancer is the most common among men in the UK - 1 in 8 men will be affected BUT it is absolutely treatable when caught early. Screening is required - Rishi Sunak stood up in Parliament recently to urge our current government to take action and get a national programme established, as is already the case with breast and cervical screening for women.
Your support is appreciated and thanks for reading.
