My Tour De 4 Fundraiser to Fight Cancer

I have only this weekend finished reading "All That Matters" by Sir Chris Hoy, one of my cycling heroes. I was upset in February last year when Chris told the world he had prostate cancer. Of course we all learned the devastating news months later that he was Stage 4 and that he only had between two and four years to live. How anyone copes with that diagnosis is difficult to imagine, but he has remained positive throughout his treatment and with the love and support from his family continues to be an inspiration to us all.

Last August, after months of blood tests, scans and a biopsy, I was given my own Prostate Cancer diagnosis which I decided to keep within close family and a few friends. Thankfully, mine is nothing like what some people have to endure. At present no treatment is needed, just constant monitoring to make sure there is no spread or increase in size. After reading about Chris' family struggles and his positivity, I decided it is time to share this news with you all in the hope that we can raise awareness to help fight this horrible killer that takes so many men, young and old.

I have felt inspired to join Chris and hundreds of other cyclists on his Tour De 4 fundraising ride on September 7th in Glasgow to raise as much money as possible to help the fight against cancer. I have chosen to take part in the 60km ride and although I am 68 and not very fit, I am determined to push myself to accomplish this challenge.

I would be over the moon if you feel able to support me by donating to this worthwhile charity. Any amount large or small will be gratefully appreciated. Many thanks for reading this and for your donations thus far.
