Most of us remember the breaking news about Sir Chris and his Stage 4 prostate cancer diagnosis. His story made the headlines and shone a bright light on the plight of men who have been affected by this awful disease.

At the time, 2024, I was receiving chemotherapy, having had my stage 4 diagnosis earlier that year. His words of determination and hope resonated with me and when the Tour de 4 was launched, I felt I had to try and support it in someway. I signed up for the red ride, which at the time I knew would be a massive challenge. However, after finishing radiotherapy in April, I began to realise exactly what an effort taking part would mean. With the incredible support of my wife Lyndsay and children, Daniel and Lucy, and a few sunny days in the saddle, I find myself here being able to take part. So bring on the 57miles and over 3000 climbing feet, much further and higher than I've managed this year!!

There are so many things that can be improved in the battle against this cancer, a national screening programme, a reliable test method, new treatment pathways and welfare support for those who are affected by this awful disease.
