I’m taking part in Tour de 4 2026, the cycling event launched by Sir Chris Hoy following his Stage 4 cancer diagnosis. It brings together people living with Stage 4 cancer, alongside friends, families and supporters, to ride side by side and raise vital funds.

Many of you will know Andys mum in in the later stages of mouth cancer, we have decided to take part in the Tour De 4 to raise desperately needed funding for the Mouth Cancer Foundation, a lesser known cancer foundation https://www.mouthcancerfoundation.org/ to allow it to continue with its research and support not only mouth cancer patients and their families but to increase awareness of mouth cancers symptoms. Like many cancers caught early can prolong life expectancy.

While it is much too late for Mary to benefit from any research, trials or treatment funding may bring, having watched the progression of this horrid, horrid little known cancer and the way it has taken away the spirited, funny, loving and kind lady she was, I do not want others to have to see their loved ones be taken from them in this way and so despite saying in 2018 I wasnt doing any more challenges I have decided to take part in the Tour De 4 and am kindly asking for any donation to you may be able to give to help me reach my target.

The Mouth Cancer Foundation exists to save and improve the lives of patients, carers and survivors, increase awareness and education about all head and neck cancers.
