I’m taking part in Tour de 4 2026, the cycling event launched by Sir Chris Hoy following his Stage 4 cancer diagnosis. It brings together people living with Stage 4 cancer, alongside friends, families, and supporters, to ride side by side and raise vital funds.

The event is about showing that a diagnosis does not define a person, & highlighting what life with Stage 4 cancer can look like. Well, it looks like me!

In November 2024 I was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer. Since then I’ve had:
  • 30 rounds of chemotherapy and counting
  • 2 lifesaving major abdominal surgeries, including the creation of a stoma in 2025
  • 2 serious drug reactions
  • 1 minor surgery to fit a port in my chest for easy chemo delivery
  • 1 embolism, which means even more drugs

My last surgery was only 5 months ago. So, I’m working with a specialist physio just to get fit and confident to cycle 30 mins on a static bike in the centre of the Chris Hoy Velodrome. I’m having to dig deep for this, not just because of the impact of my recent surgery but also what cycling with a stoma brings. There is always space on my cheerleading team, so your messages of support and donations will be a real motivator.

And this is just the start of my physical rehabilitation and fundraising efforts. Next year my teenage son and I will be competing in the 39miler.

I’m fortunate to have the best family, support network and cheerleaders to keep me going when things get tough and join in with my whimsical fun and frolics to celebrate life. However, we all continue to benefit from support by Macmillan, including counselling. This is my opportunity to do something for these wonderful people and an organisation that supports everyone affected by cancer.

If you’re able to donate or share, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every contribution supports Macmillan to ensure more people get the cancer care and support that's right for them.

Thank you.
