On the 6th of September, my dad, two of our friends and I will be in Glasgow to participate in the Tour de 4, which was set up by Sir Chris Hoy to try and make a huge difference to cancer charities in the UK.

Why are we doing it?

Brain tumours have had a devastating impact on my family. In 2018, my mum was diagnosed with glioblastoma; later, my friend Kai was diagnosed with an oligodendroglioma, and shortly after, my friend Archie – who you may have seen bravely campaigning for change on TV recently – was diagnosed with three oligodendrogliomas.

By the way, those are all considered terminal brain cancer diagnoses – I hate that term. It suggests that their cancer will take them: my mum and my friends. It’s so defeatist. It’s time we make a real difference and make that word irrelevant for brain tumours – a disease which is majorly underfunded, despite being the number one cancer killer for those under 40.

We will be cycling around the Glaswegian hills to try and raise as much as we can for Brain Tumour Research, a charity that is doing everything it can to find a cure.

All I’m asking for is just £1 from you. I know that if this gets in front of lots of people, each £1 can make a huge difference.

Please consider the importance of this cause and the people you can help by supporting Brain Tumour Research. Thank you so much!

From Jack Dilger and his dad, Richard Dilger.
