Hi, my name is Alex McGovern. A little history and background on me. From 2014-2020, I was in a domestic violence relationship that resulted in me having to move across the country to keep myself safe. I was terrified to do and go anywhere on my own. I started in 2021 looking for and researching a personal protection dog that would fit my lifestyle. In 2022, I found Kaiser.

He is a young, boastful Rottweiler. Through the right mentorship and help from the dog community, I have been able to build an amazing personal protection dog who gave me my freedom and independence back. I don’t have to worry about where I go, who I see, and who might pop back up because I know Kaiser will stand tall and strong in front of me. The freedom and confidence this dog has given me is something my 20-year-old self would have never imagined was possible.

Unfortunately, last summer when he was two years old, Kaiser blew his knee in a weight pull injury. We have been using pain management and at-home PT while fighting with Trupanion pet to get coverage for surgery. Unfortunately, they are firm with their standing of zero coverage so I have decided to throw in the towel and try something new - asking for help.

Over the last three years, from puppyhood to young adulthood, Kaiser has competed in a variety of dog sports and scored very high in things like weight pull and fast cat. He has a variety of AKC and UKC titles (DASH RACEA AP2 VPN2 UWPCH Von Haus Borg Kaiser FDC BCAT CGC ATT TKA) and is now moving into training in a sport called IGP. This dog has never had a bad day; he is always in good and high spirits, and everyone around him can’t help but notice and laugh. He is my helper dog for anxious, fearful, and reactive dogs and does so with ease. I need help financially to keep him safe and in turn help me continue to feel safe.

This type of outreach is foreign and strange to me, and I wouldn’t make something like this if our backs weren’t against the wall.
