Hello & Welcome to our ambitious indie feature film " My Tai ".
“My Tai” follows two best friends who must create the perfect cocktail before their bar is demolished by a local cyclone! Together, they embark on a thrilling journey filled with formidable adversaries and a mysterious faction known as the 'greenthumbs,' all standing in their way as they pursue the perfect ingredient. With the clock ticking and the cyclone looming closer, they must summon unwavering courage and resourcefulness to overcome obstacles as they fulfill their destiny!
With a delightful blend of action and humour reminiscent of "ANCHORMAN" and "ZOOLANDER," this film explores the complexities of friendship, the weight of expectations, and the inevitability of change. "My Tai" reminds us that while change may be difficult, it is an inescapable part of life's journey.
This film pays homage to the vibrant and colorful Australian beach bars and embraces the nostalgic longing for endless summer days and the beauty of long-lasting friendships, shared adventures, inside jokes, and cherished moments that permeate through the screens and remind the audiences of their own youthful adventures with friends! It’s a reminder that amidst the chaos and challenges, the true treasures lie in the simple pleasures and the memories we create along the way.

A Word From The Creators:
Director: “Hi! I’m Hannah Smith, a director who has funny friends. I felt like I resonated a lot with the themes in this film. But most of all, having grown up in Mission Beach, I personally bore witness to the destructive forces unleashed by Cyclone Larry and Cyclone Yasi. These encounters have indelibly moulded my perspective. Consequently, through this film, I aspire to convey a distinctive and whimsical love letter, paying homage to the unique challenges we confronted!”
Writer: “I'm Jake Ashton, and as a writer from many beachside bars, this film serves as heartbreaking and moving portrayal of just how old I've become and therefore unable to enjoy the cocktails of my youth. While to most it will be a raucous and hilarious comedy about friendship, creativity and legacy, to me it will be a somber, tragic and melancholy exploration of just how much fun I'm only allowed to have until 9pm. 9:30 tops.”
