UPDATE: We earned 2,000 on this GoFund Me two months ago. Since then the cost of our buses have risen to $700 each. There was basically no reason given by our organization. This is an outrageous amount but we have decided to go forward with our trips. So we are asking contributors for an additional $200 to cover the new bus cost. Please help us get our students to their field trips!

Hi, my name is Lisa Celaya. I am organizing this fundraiser for our 3rd and 4th grade students to go on field trips this spring. This funding will provide buses and entry fees for my 3rd grade class, Liz Franco's 4th grade class, Rosa Diaz' 3rd grade class and Mary Yancey's special education class to go on field trips.

We are teachers in Lennox, California which is in Los Angeles county. Many folks have not heard of Lennox. It is a small urban community couched directly beneath the LAX flight path and right next to the 405 freeway. Since Covid, our students have not had much chance to go on school field trips. Parents have shared that the last time our 3rd graders went on a school trip was in 2019 when they were kindergartners. It has been years since the school has provided any field trip funding. Another limiting factor is that few organizations are offering free programs which include paid transportation.

The Lennox community consists of immigrant and first-generation families with strong roots in Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador. Our school has a 90% free lunch population and many families struggle to make ends meet. So large donations are hard to come by for extra activities.

We are seeking funding for 2 field trips this spring. One is to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach and the other is to the California Science Center in downtown Los Angeles. Each bus costs approximately 600.00 and then there are entry fees to come up with.

We would be very happy to take the students on these educational trips. School trips are memorable experiences where kids get to have fun and explore things they might not have with their families.
