Hi everyone,
I'm writing this for the love of my life - my platonic soulmate and best friend. Six months ago, she was physically assaulted by her male roommate. He walks free, but since the attack, her body has never been the same. She developed Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and Neurological Function Disorder (NFD), on top of living with Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS).
Now, even standing is a battle. She can barely walk, even with a walker. There are days when she faints multiple times - I’ve had to catch her, support her, and even carry her. She’s trapped at home, slowly succumbing to PTSD, depression, and exhaustion.
She has no family to turn to after escaping a cult in the South and rebuilding her life in CT with nothing but her dreams of becoming a marine scientist and her black kitty, Omen. But the attack took everything from her - education, health, financial stability, and independence.
I am her only support system. I drive her to appointments and do my best to cover food and essentials. But I am only one person on a graduate student stipend with chronic illness. The government has denied her disability benefits for now. Getting diagnosed with her conditions and receiving disability status is an uphill battle. She also has no legal representation for the assault, as no local pro bono lawyers will take her case. Her savings are drained. She has less than $40 left.
My dream goal is to support her for six months. My minimum goal is to help her through one month.
Here’s what your kindness will help cover:
Rent (1 month): $600
Food (1 month): $200
Medical transportation (1 month): $200
Health foods & supplements: $100
Wheelchair: $150
Disability supplies: compression clothing, electrolyte powder, rehydration solution, shower chair, portable + collapsible stool, migraine hat, cooling products, medical ID band, KT tape, braces (waist, knee, arm)
Extra costs: medical debt, student loans, legal fees
Each contribution - no matter how small - means the world to me, and it means survival for her. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for standing with her when it feels like no one else will.
Feel free to contact for verification if you're unsure - I will do my best to show it's not a scam!
