My Son Was Shot Protecting Others — Help Him Heal
Donation protected
My name is Ashley, and I’m the mother of a brave, big-hearted young man named Erik. He is a 21-year-old college student and football player who recently transferred schools to pursue his dreams. Just a few months later, Erik was shot while trying to protect others during a situation that escalated without his involvement. Due to an ongoing investigation, we are protecting certain details for now.
He was rushed into life-saving surgery, where part of his stomach, pancreas, and entire spleen were removed. He has since lost over 50 pounds and missed his anticipated spring football game. For a brief time after discharge, we were hopeful — but Erik declined rapidly and was hospitalized again.
He is currently very sick, unable to eat normally, and facing another possible stomach surgery in the coming weeks if other interventions do not succeed.
I am a self-employed therapist and his full-time caregiver. I’ve had to place all work on hold to be by his side and advocate for his recovery. We are hours away from home, exhausted, and financially strained.
How Funds Will Be Used:
Travel, lodging, and meals while hospitalized away from home
Erik's personal bills and basic needs during his recovery
Post-hospital care and possible second surgery costs
Basic financial support for me to continue providing full-time care
We Need Your Help
Erik didn’t ask for this. He did what he always does: protect others. Now he’s the one who needs protecting.
Our goal is to raise $40,000 to make sure Erik can heal without worrying about financial collapse. We are facing a long recovery process. If you’re able to donate, share, or pray — we are so deeply grateful. Every act of kindness matters.
Thank you for standing with us during this incredibly difficult journey.
With love and gratitude,Ashley (Erik’s Mom)
Why do you also have an Angelink campaign?
Some supporters prefer different donation platforms. We created a GoFundMe and an Angelink so people can choose the one they trust most. Both are legitimate, both go directly to the same cause, and both are managed solely by Erik’s mother.
