My Sixth Trip to Liberia
Donation protected
My name is Kelsey and this January (2024) I will be returning to Liberia for the sixth time.
The picture above is from when we walked into Cooperstown on our trip this past January (2023). Six years ago when we first walked into Cooperstown the people were unsure of us and the children were afraid of us. This past year, that was not the case. Once they heard we were on our way, the kids hiked a mile out to meet us on the trail and walk back in with us. Five years before they cried when we arrived, now they were decorating trees and greeting us with joyous smiles and laughter.
As I previously stated, this upcoming January will be my fifth trip to Liberia. Being a part of God's work in Liberia has been a great privilege and honor, one that I love to share with others. My grandma actually went on the first two trips to Liberia and has a godson in Liberia, so from the age of four I grew up with a strong desire to go to Liberia. I was finally able to go my freshman year of college. After that, I was hooked and God has called me back year after year. Since my first trip, I have been able to take my best friend, my mom, and my boyfriend with me (I wasn't joking when I said I love to share the experience with others).
Many of you reading this probably know about the Liberia mission; however, if you do not know what the Liberia mission consists of, let me give you a brief overview: we partner with Effort Baptist Liberia all over the country hosting medical clinics, undergirding church plants, leading youth and leadership conferences, providing health education, supporting schools and granting scholarships, and serving anywhere we feel God nudging us.
Each year we spend about two weeks in Liberia but the mission does not stop there. Since returning home, our congregation helped sponsor six hernia surgeries needed in Cooperstown and our Missions Committee has been able to help fund the expansion of a church in Foya and a school started by our ministry partner, Charlesetta.
After twenty years of partnership, our mission is still strong and still evolving. It has been a special privilege to be a part of this ministry and I am looking forward to seeing how God continues to use me and us on this next trip.
I am so grateful for the faithful support I have received from my family and friends over the years--thank you all for being in partnership with me these last six years. I hope I am fortunate enough to be blessed by your generosity again.
If you cannot give financially, I ask for your prayers and encouragement for me and my team: June, Ann, Amy, Jacob, Terri, Mendy, and Vinny (and maybe more). If you are interested in hearing about how you can get involved, please reach out.
Again, thank you for taking the time to consider donating and supporting my campaign!
