My Sisters' Keeper African-Centered Sisterhood Program
Donation protected
Peace Family,
My name is Nia Imani-Walker, and I am proud to be a product of so many culturally rich communities and expert educators.
I have long dreamed of developing programs for Black youth to ensure that young people have African-centered, creative, holistic spaces in which to thrive.
So this is my first attempt...starting June 9th!!!
I am coordinating a sisterhood session for 10 Black middle school aged girls in Durham to develop themselves by building positive social and life skills.
In order to 'pay' our specialist to come in twice a week and teach dance, sewing, hair braiding and herbal creations, I have charged the families $75 per week. However, I have offered a $50 scholarship for families in need of it. I have also planned for the session to include trips, one of which is a little pricey.
Reaching this goal would ensure that there are enough scholarships available for all of the sisters, as well as resources to offer a $20 support for the trip fees and many other awesome activities. Only $1,500 will cover 10 scholarships for all 3 weeks!
LET'S DO THIS!!! ASAP!!
If you would like to support these little sisters and the specialists who will teach , please donate!
