Helping My Sister After Devastating Flooding on the Clackamas River (Oregon)
In just a matter of days, my sister and her family’s lives were turned upside down when severe flooding hit their home along the Clackamas River in Oregon. The water rose quickly and caused extensive damage, leaving their house unsafe and unlivable.
I live in Australia and am unable to be there in person to help them through this crisis. This fundraiser is the only way I know how to support them right now and to ask others to help if they can.
While they do have insurance, their insurance company is refusing any claims due to "non-structural damage" which is absurd and they will have a long fight ahead of them all whilst repairing their home and replacing their belongings (some of which are irreplaceable) . Assessments, approvals, and any potential payouts if they can even get a claim through can take many months. In the meantime, they are facing urgent costs for temporary housing, basic necessities, cleanup, and replacing essential items that were lost or damaged. The water level was metres high in the entire bottom floor of their home. Gyprock, flooring, framing will all need to be replaced.
At this time, there has been no state of emergency declared and no immediate government aid or relief available, making community support even more critical.
Any donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward helping them get through the coming weeks and months as they begin the long process of recovery. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page also means more than you know.
Thank you for taking the time to read, care, and support my family during this incredibly difficult and devastating time.
