Help my sister with ALS get an accessible shower
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Sharee and I’m asking for your kindness in helping my sister.
My sister, Janie was a dance instructor, elementary school teacher and is an amazingly positive person despite the cards that she has been dealt. She was diagnosed with ALS, which is a severely physically debilitating disease that has no cure.
Janie is amazing! She wants to continue to be as active as possible for as long as she can. Additionally, she is working on a program to mentor newly diagnosed people with education and hope about available clinical trials to slow the progression of the disease.
In the last year the disease has progressed quickly to the point where she can no longer lift her legs to get in and out of the shower. She is very close to full-time wheelchair necessity. She has fallen recently in attempting to maneuver this independently. Her husband must assist her in getting in and out of the shower.
While he is able to do this for now, it has limited her independence, and it is not sustainable for much longer.
They need this money to have a handicap shower installed, with roll-in wheelchair capability, and other safety allowances.
The estimate is $12,995 to install the shower.
Thank you in advance for anything that you can donate to help my sister - it is very, very much appreciated.
